Lake Ray Roberts
Dakota Jones Fishing
Texas Fishing Guide
Hello to everyone reading this report and happy Easter! Kudos to all those that were able to sneak away and fish this weekend, but if you had to stay home with family this holiday do not fret, the fish are still biting! In this report, I will be covering Lake Ray Roberts.
Lake Ray Roberts Reservoir lies just north of Dallas near Denton, Texas. Covering roughly 2000 acres, Ray Roberts is a prime bass fishery, a clean and fun atmosphere to take the family and only a short drive from Dallas. The current lake record Largemouth weighs 15.18 pounds that was caught in 2015. You can also find Spotted bass and smallmouth swimming around its shores.
Several tournaments have been hosted on this lake in the past weeks, all taking 20-25pound limits to place well. The lake is healthy and the fishing is hot! You can catch fish in all three stages of the spawn right now. I am finding fish shallow in flooded bushes through the day. Flipping the edges of brush seems to be most productive, however, I can usually find some bonus fish roaming the shallows. For this I will pick up a spinnerbait or big swimbait and cover water until one nails it.
If you are interested in hunting a grand-slam (Largemouth, Smallmouth and Spotted bass) or even that really big bite that will send chills up your spine, you can do it all at Lake Ray Roberts. My schedule is currently open during the week, please give me a call or email to book your next trip. I look forward to catching some giants with you soon!
